Eating-Clean

Hello all! I am excited to share my new cookbook and lifestyle with you. I have decided to jump on the clean-eating train. For those of you who have already adopted a healthier eating lifestyle, the eating clean approach is really no different. It focuses on eating whole, non-processed foods that are closer to nature then the processed junk we have all come to love.

I chose to give it a try after reading Tosca Reno's story in an edition of Oxygen Magazine. She was an average over-weight woman, about to turn 40 and she decided it was time for a change. Now she is on the cover of fitness magazines! If that's not motivation, I don't know what is.

I will be learning more everyday about this exciting lifestyle change and sharing the information I pick up along the way with all of you. Please join me on my journey, as I try different recipes (from a variety of sources) and share with you the ones that I enjoyed.

For those of you willing to give it a try, here is a quick rundown of clean-eating and what it entails.

Clean-Eating Basics:

  • Eat 5-6 small meals every day (Every 2-3 hours)

  • Combine lean protein and complex carbs at every meal

  • Drink lots of water! (at least 8 cups each day)

  • Avoid all over-processed, refined foods (Sigh, I sure will miss you old friends!)

  • Avoid all saturated and trans fats

  • Avoid sugar-loaded beverages, including alcohol (Might have to break this one, now and then!)
